Since 1969, His Divine A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, has been distributing the matchless gifts of Krishna Consciousness throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Wherever he traveled in the world, Srila Prabhupada devoted the early morning hours to translating and expounding India’s ancient Vedic literature. Between 1974 and 1976, His Divine Grace performed that sacred duty especially swiftly here in Hawaii, in his room upstairs.That is how these grounds became a tirtha, a holy place.
